The Coronation of King Charles III
and The Queen Consort –
2023
To celebrate the Coronation on
the 6th of May of King Charles III and the Queen Consort, we have produced a
special wild flower seed mix to mark the occasion.
It is well known that King
Charles has a love for wild flowers and indeed has created impressive
wild flower meadows at Highgrove. In keeping with this we have created a
special wild flower seed mix that contains many British wild flowers*
that will attract bees, butterflies and many other wild pollinators that
can be sown now or later in the year. The seeds will flower
approximately from May to October and will include annuals, perennials
and biennials of the following wild flower species:
Field Poppy, Selfheal, Red Clover, Bird's Foot Trefoil, Oxeye Daisy, Lady's Bedstraw,
Betony, Corn Chamomile, Red Campion, Wild Carrot, Cornflower, Meadow Cranesbill,
Devil's Bit Scabious, Field Scabious, Small Scabious, Common Knapweed, Greater Knapweed,
Dark Mullein, Kidney Vetch, Tufted Vetch, Viper's Bugloss, Meadow Vetchling,
Yarrow, Yellow Rattle, Corncockle & Corn Marigold.
Sowing instructions: sow outdoors at a rate of 1.5g per sq metre
preferably into bare soil, or compost if in pots, troughs or planters.

*The wild flower seeds we have chosen for this
mix are all native to Great Britain or have been naturalised for many years in
this country and are easy to grow and will
produce a colourful display of blooms. Besides the visual appeal of the
flowers, you can be safe in the certain knowledge that bees, butterflies and
many other pollinators will benefit from your wild flowers.
No matter how small or
large a garden you have, this seed mix can be sown wherever you have space, it
can even be planted in pots or window boxes. If you prefer to sow the seeds in
autumn, this is a great way to see some earlier flowering in the following
spring.
The seed packets will also make great gifts
for your friends and relatives!
